Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela , born in Mvezo, South Africa, July 18, 1918 and died in Johannesburg, South Africa, December 5, 2013 at the age of 95 is a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who has been President of South Africa since 1994 until 1999.
He was the first black South African to hold the post and the first president elected through full representation, in a multiracial election. His government focused on abolishing the influence of apartheid by eradicating racism, poverty and inequality, and promoting racial reconciliation. As an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. In addition, Mandela had been General Secretary of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.
Nelson Mandela became my favorite figure as a symbol for the minority (negro) in order not to be afraid to compete with the majority.
