If you have never heard of this festival, you’re living a very secluded life. Your missing out on the best fun money can buy! This place is a blast into the past where people fought with swords and defended with shields. A time when women were called wretches and it was ok and the black plague was consuming Europe.
People believed in fairy tales, and I'm not totally sure if humans still thought the world was round. It was a different time, and it’s great to see so many people playing the character. It’s a great time for everyone as many people who come also dress up themselves.
Inside the gates are a ton of medieval shops along with stage acts and shows.
The first act I came across was Sword Swallowing
This is insane!
Watching him swallow that sword started to make me hungry, and the obvious choice while here is this turkey leg.
BOOM! The thing is actually much bigger than it looks, and will fill you up. While I was eating it I got to watch this fiddler
After that I made my way into Sherwood Forest.
Where they apparently had a bunch of little fairy houses.
This one was pretty awesome and complex. If you noticed, a 6year old made this - just wow
Upon exiting the forest, they had a battle involving Robin Hood and his companions
They also have a jousting competition! Unfortunately when I showed up they were charging at each other, so my picture came after the one got knocked down.
There are animal rides also. This Camel was just doing the perfect pose, I just couldn't resist.
There is plenty of food beer everywhere. The place is full of Games, shows, people singing, and shops full of different arts and crafts. You can buy medieval weapons and Armors, crystal balls, and almost any gemstone imaginable.
There is plenty of entertainment and attractions but remember 1 thing...
PLENTY OF $$$
Yes it can be a pretty expensive trip, but it definitely doesn't have to be. There are enough shows and crafts to keep you entertained.
If you haven't been to a renaissance festival, you should definitely check one out. Get some friends together and dress up like the medieval times. I guarantee you will have a blast!
