Steemit's Free Online Sci Fi Compendium - Vol #3

This is the third edition of a collection where I recommend free, legal, high-quality Science Fiction online. Missed the first other ones?

Check it vol#1 and vol#2.

On this edition, I'll focus on recently released works, all released this year. Enjoy!

Nina Allan - The Art of Space Travel

In 2047, a first manned mission to Mars ended in tragedy. Thirty years later, a second expedition is preparing to launch. As housekeeper of the hotel where two of the astronauts will give their final press statements, Emily finds the mission intruding upon her thoughts more and more. Emily’s mother, Moolie, has a message to give her, but Moolie’s memories are fading. As the astronauts’ visit draws closer, the unearthing of a more personal history is about to alter Emily’s world forever.

Nina Allan is a British author who published several short stories, two Novellas and a Novel. The Art of Space Travel is a science fiction novelette published on Tor.com on July 2016.

Aliette de Bodard - A Hundred and Seventy Storms

This is the room where The Snow Like a Dancer dies, year by year and piece by piece.
When they wheel in the cradle where she rests, she always thinks—for a bare, suspended moment—that it will be all right, that it will all end well—and then nausea tightens around her, and the white and stark walls seem to press down on her, unbearably sharp, a faint memory of Third Aunt and Cousin Lua asleep, and the incessant noise of machinery monitoring her, drips and feeds hooked into her broken, disconnected limbs.

Aliette de Bodard is an American born, french raised speculative fiction writer winner of Nebula and Locus awards. A Hundred and Seventy Storms was published in the July/August issue of Uncanny Magazine.

Adam-Troy Castro - The Old Horror Writer

He’s harder to find than most. I have the basis for comparison because I’ve gotten to all of them sooner or later, from the big names to the obscurities. There are some who give up so thoroughly, and disappear so completely, that it’s as if they never existed at all. This guy’s far from the worst.

Adam-Troy Castro is a science fiction writer specializing in fiction. Writing since the nineties, his hundreds of stories have been nominated and won many awards. The Old Horror Writer was published in the May 2016 issue of Nightmare Magazine
