New novel Raises Science Themes From Intelligent Design Community
Bruce Buff's new novel, The Soul of the Matter sounds fascinating. An MIT geneticist discovers evidence of design in DNA. He keeps the information confidential, but it leaks out. A colleague is murdered, and soon he finds a gang of Transhumanists hunting him for the secret knowledge.
Now, I find this not only intensely interesting but hilarious. Transhumanists are generally politically left, and hence are convinced that an alliance of corporations, Christians and shadowy billionaires, like the Koch Brothers, are conspiring against them. Transhumanists like to call the IDers unscientific creationists, and the IDers call them a kooky religious cult. A plot theme of a Transhumanist conspiracy to steal from, and then murder, a scientist with information demonstrating design is rich.
Here is a review of the book on the website of the Discovery Institute. Can’t wait to read it.
