...continued from part 1
….He engaged his gear into 'drive mode' and drove off in the direction that the car carrying Anna had taken. A little distance later, he spotted the car while it halted in a little traffic.
Despite his good-nature, James decided that he was going to gate-crash the strange man’s plans with Anna, by supposedly “bumping into them”.
He smiled wickedly to himself at his newly hatched plan. He really liked Anna and even though he still didn’t know much about her – and in fact, no one at work really knew her so well either – he wasn’t about to lose her to some good-looking fellow in a pretty nice car.
Seeing as traffic was yet to ease up, James adjusted his rear-view mirror and fancied a look at his image. He thought to himself, that he was equally good looking, and his car wasn’t exactly brand new; but was in splendid condition, with a good sound and air-condition system.
He resolved that he was doing okay financially as well, and wasn't going to give up on Anna just yet; neither was he going to back away – at least, until he knew for certain that she was taken.
So he trailed the car carefully and at a good distance, and followed them all the way to a five-star restaurant; where it dawned on him that she was obviously on a date with the unknown fellow.
Having seen them alight from the vehicle after parking, he manoeuvred past a number of parked cars and found himself a spot to park in the restaurant’s parking lot.
He parked his car, but still sat inside. He was now unsure of what to do next. Maybe it was a mistake following Anna here, he thought to himself. After all, he had no right or justification to be following her around. Every one would conveniently term that as stalking.
She hadn't wanted any birthday celebration, but she was out on a supposed date with someone. What should he make of that, he wondered aloud?
Should he go into the restaurant and do the whole “Wow, Anna! Funny-to-bump-into-you-here” thing? Or should he just go home, and curse his luck and timing? Or perhaps find a subtle way to enquire if she and the man are dating?
Still unsure of the right move to make, he stepped out of his car, locked up and made for the entrance to the restaurant where he had seen them enter.
On approaching the entrance, he could tell that it was a very big and rather wide restaurant structure. He walked in and was promptly greeted by the security personnel station by the door.
He scanned around and spotted Anna and her male companion, as they were settling down at a table not very far from the entrance, he fought the urge to turn back and exit the restaurant.
While his eyes was glued to Anna, and still in a state of “what-do-I-do-now?”, Anna suddenly looked towards the entrance of the building, spotted him and smiled.
