Lords of the Feast (50 Word Short Story)

Lords of the Feast

I ran, my foot dragging, scrapping drag marks in the sand, my ankle crunching with each step.
"The feast," a voice called from behind.
"The feast," I screamed, drool running from my mouth, knowing we were the last two survivors, earning our right to join our lords at the feast.

Note: I had written this before I found a picture on Pixabay, and let me tell you, it took me a while to find a picture that halfway represented what I was seeing in my imagination, and this picture is the closes I can find. If you look closely at the picture you can see two people, I imagine they are running toward a beautiful city just outside of the picture on the far right. I imagine the city is grand and huge, and once the winners of the contest arrive in the city they will led to a great dinning hall, where their lords will welcome them with open arms. The two survivors will join the lords at the table and feast to celebrate their victory and become the newest inhabitants of the city, becoming one of the lords.

Note: I think next time I do this challenge I'll find a picture and write a story around it.

I love doing these kind of challenges. It force my mind to think in terms of word counts. And I think it is important for writers to think in terms of word counts, than pages. Pages could mean anything. I also love doing these types of challenges, cause it teaches me to stay true to the rule - Never Use Two When One Word Will Do

A word of Thanks
I want to give thanks @jayna for creating this challenge and allowing me to enter. I really look forward to more challenges to come. Thank You.

Special mention
It may come to no surprise I am new and still trying to navigate my way through the Steemit world. Much bigger and complex than I imagined, but it is AWESOME. But I want to give thanks to @kaelci. When I wrote my Introduceyourself I had messed up in the tag line without realizing, and wrote intoduceyourself, spelling it wrong, and no one was seeing my page. Somehow she ran across my post and commented, giving me a wealth of information, and directed me here and few other places. I was about to give up hope until @kaelci popped up and helped me a to get started. Thank You @kaelci. Hospitality is divine.

This is my first post on Steemit, other than my introduceyourself, and we be many more come.
Thank You To All

This is my entry to @jayna's Fifty Word writing challenge
