MOUTHGASM #1: Sea urchin and sushi galore in LA

Welcome to Mouthgasm! This is the part of our blog where we showcase the drool-and-jizz-inducing food that we often like to treat ourselves to (after spending hours drooling and jizzing over food porn ourselves).

So this week I just wanted to showcase some of the goodies that I (Norma) was lucky enough to try while I was in Los Angeles and San Francisco recently for a work trip. Unfortunately, since it was a work trip, Aleks was unable to join. :( Since this is our first food post, I just wanted to let you know to expect a LOT of seafood, as well as some vegetarian/vegan food, since Aleks and I are both pescetarians. I also have a mild heavy obsession with sushi/raw fish, so.. expect a lot of that!

We mainly ran in here because there was a sign advertising 50% off large bottles of sake on a sunday evening, and as the drinking continued...we got peckish. The only thing I managed to photograph was the uni (sea urchin) udon ($19), which was yummy but also slightly disappointing that the sauce was only creamy and didn’t have any sea urchin flavour or colour to it, meaning the only uni flavour was coming from that tiny dollops on to which wasn’t much. It’s always a problem when there’s not enough uni, it just doesn’t make the dish satisfying. Notable mention that I did not take a photo of but tried - their truffly vegetarian roll, with mushrooms, rice crispies and avocado if I remember correctly. Not exactly the most authentic, but probably the best vegetarian sushi roll I’ve ever tried. You really don’t miss the meat and it’s just bursting with flavour.

Rating: Made me a little wet

EMC Seafood and Raw bar (via Ubereats) - Multiple locations (I had been to the one in Koreatown : 3500 W 6th St #101, Los Angeles, CA 90020, USA)

Apologies for the reduced quality of these pictures from my shitty old phone. I was too excited to eat as I was starving and could not be bothered to find my camera to take legit photos. Something that now actually, in hindsight I regret. I ate at EMC last year when I went to Los Angeles, and I had an amazing time - highly recommend it to any seafood lovers, mainly because they do an INCREDIBLE uni pasta that will blow YOUR MIND (and other parts... ). Once again it did not disappoint, and I was left creaming my pants in ecstacy. A few of my colleagues had not tried sea urchins before and they all creamed their pants too upon tasting these sumptuous creamy gonads. I also had a wonderful scallop carpaccio to start (though it got quite tossed around on the way over… hence no photo, looked kinda like shit but was so delicious).

And we’re back to sushi again, surprise surprise. I have an addiction guys, I needed my fix. One of the things I love about LA is Ubereats because you can have bomb-ass restaurant food from the comfort of your own home. When looking for a sushi place, I always prioritize variety (I don’t want to be eating just sushi and tuna, oh no) and price of course. Luckily for me, sushi in California often has great variety as the seafood is just so amazing out there, whether it be oysters, fish or the renowned Santa Barbara uni, so it’s more about price.

We were really impressed by the value of this sushi as you could get a set of 7 nigiris (yellowtail, salmon, albacore, white fish, tuna, eel and the only “shitty” one is the boiled shrimp, which is better than egg!) as well as either spicy tuna or california rolls AND a miso soup for $14.95 only!!

Next we customised our own What The Fish roll [WTF] ($12.95) which was a spicy tuna roll with albacore, white fish and yellowtail on the outside. Absolutely heavenly. This is precisely what I love about Californian sushi - FISH VARIETY! Albacore is so commonly seen in restaurants, yet in Europe it’s probably something that is only served at more high-end places. Not sure what white fish is though, I’m used to it normally being sea bass or sea bream, but this was definitely neither, but absolutely divine.

Just a little more fish variety here, although it doesn’t look too exciting, here is some halibut nigiri ($7.50). Again, not one that is seen often in Europe, or even in Asia come to think of it. A mild and delicate fish.

Now we enter the treat yourself stage, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you - truffle and albacore nigiri($8.95). Was as amazing as it looks, as the truffle flavour sensually fucked the albacore in my mouth in the sweetest and tenderest moment I had ever experienced.

Last but not least, Santa Barbara uni gunkan ($7.50). So juicy, so fat, no skimping whatsoever. This was when the orgasm happened as I and my friend placed the piece of sushi in our mouths, and our eyes closed, our thighs clenched, and our panties got soaked. The creamy, sweet flavours overpowered our mouths as we stared into each others eyes and jointly orgasmed into infinity. This was probably the best sushi i’ve ever ordered online.

Rating : Panties were thoroughly soaked.

Hope you guys throroughly enjoyed our first ever Mouthgasm post! FYI this is just part 1 of my 10 day long mouthgasm spree. Up next, more uni, more sashimi and more raw fish. Oh and some Thai food...but mainly raw fish! STAY TUNED!
