Baked Tomatoes to Lick Your Fingers + Original Photos

Like a true lover of cooking, I love to experiment. I am more than sure that the best recipes come unexpectedly.

My family has vegetable garden where they grow various natural vegetables and herbs. Usually I use them to season my recipes with all the richness it has. This year we had lots of tomatoes that were greatly used in different salsas or in the salads or pasta. Not long time ago I had a birthday party and I was keen on preparing something delicious for my relatives and friends. I wanted to make little sandwiches (tapas) with various spreadings, and as there were so many tomatoes, I have started thinking how to use them the best for this dish. At the end, I have decided to bake them with various seasons and what we have is... A finger licking spreading!!!

Doubtlessly, I recommend you to make more than just one portion, because as delicious as it is, there will nothing left.

For 300 g of spreading:

1 kg of tomatoes ( make sure they are well soft, the color or the size is not something that should matter too much, take the ones you like them most- red, green, yellow, orange, big, small...)

Black pepper, salt and basil (raw basil is perfect too)

Olive oil

Your favourite spices

Chilli

Garlic

Preparation:

1) wash tomatoes and slice them;

2) add favourite spices and chilli into olive oil;

3) cut garlic into slices;

4) take a baking form and put sliced tomatoes, garlic, pour olive oil and mix everything well.

5) preheat the oven to 220 C and put the baking form into for 25-30 minutes till tomatoes are baked and this seducing smell is all around your kitchen.

When they are baked, put them all into a bowl, mix well and let to sit for some minutes.

Enjoy this amazingness with bread or pasta, or any dish that needs a nice kick.

@sgunte recommends to put this salsa into a fantastic hamburger here
