STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #4 : POWER BOWL (ORIGINAL RECIPE AND PHOTOS)

Hey there!

It took me 4 weeks to finally have courage to join the steemit culinary challenge with a very Lithuanian dish. We, Lithuanians, have a very interesting cuisine that combines both simple and cheap ingredients. In general, Lithuanian cuisine is village-like, is rich in flavors (although we do not use many different spices) and, in some cases, can be really fatty. Tho, everything is for the reason. A hundred years ago people had to work hard all-day long in the fields. No surprise that one needed lots of energy to do all that physically exhausting work. This is how all Lithuanian dishes were formed.

Today I would like to share with You a Power Bowl Salads. The recipe itself is just based on Lithuanian dish but it is not a copy.

Wash your hands, put the apron on, roll up the sleeves and let's go!

Power Bowl for 2:

  1. 150 g of boiled peas (cooled)
  2. Pinch of salt and pepper, 2-3 garlic cloves
  3. Favorite mayonnaise
  4. 75 g of black bread cut into cubes
  5. 3 table spoons of vegetable oil

Into a heated pan, pour some oil and put the cubes of bread. Stir constantly till the cubes are golden brown. Take them out onto the paper towel (we do not want them to be too oily, right). Let them cool down.

Take a bowl. Put peas, salt, pepper, minced garlic cloves, mayonnaise and golden brown cubes of bread. Mix well.

In Lithuania I am more than sure that this salad would be served with some beer.

Are you a real Lithuanian or you want to be one? Try these salads out and let me know in the comments bellow how do you like them :)
