Here is my second entry into the "a smoothie for @smooth" #steemitculinarychallenge.

Thanks again to our gracious host @woman-onthe-wing and to this week's fabulous judge @rebeccaryan. Some awesome smoothie posts are up already and I'm excited to have some new recipes to try!

This red and yellow layered treat combines a peach-raspberry fruity layer with a papaya-turmeric earthy and pleasantly sweet finish. Each layer is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients, and the bright colors will make sure you're at attention for the day ahead!

This smoothie packs such a nutritious punch! Turmeric is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Papaya is great for digestion and has more than your daily need of vitamin C. Finally, the superfood bee pollen makes another appearance, with immune system support, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

For the red layer

1 cup raspberries
1 cup peaches
2/3 cup coconut water
1 ripe banana
1 T bee pollen
1 t vanilla extract

For the yellow layer

3/4 cup grapefruit segments (you could use orange too).
1/3 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup papaya chunks
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 t ground turmeric
1 ripe banana

Directions

  • Blend up the ingredients for the red layer, and set aside.
  • Blend up the ingredients for the yellow layer, and set aside.
  • Alternate the red and yellow layers however you'd like.
  • Pro Tip: If you want your layers to be clean-cut, stick the glass in the freezer for a few minutes between adding each layer. That way, the previous layer has a chance to firm up a bit before the next layer is added, and so on. Or, just dump it all together and drink it up!
