私の日常 Authentic Japanese Food for Vegetarian!!

今日はトンパさん(@tonpa)からのjp-friendshipバトンについて。

Japanese cuisine is one of the healthiest one in the world. The cuisine usually uses many vegetables, mushrooms, and seaweed. But it doesn't mean you can easily find vegetarian foods.

和食って、健康的だけど案外お魚やお肉含んでますよね?ベジタリアン向けの和食って、実は難しい。。。
昨日、ベジタリアンのお友達がおうちに遊びに来てくれました。滅茶苦茶焦りましたがなんとか和食を提供!というわけで、写真は頑張って作ったベジタリアン和食。

Yesterday one of my friends came to my home. She is from India and is a vegetarian.
Because of her food preferences, I can’t use Dashi (a class of soup), which is kind of the foundation of Japanese cuisine but includes fish.
I struggled to find a good menu for her but finally made it! The picture above shows the dishes I cooked for her.

The vegetarian menu I cooked

  • Spinach "Ohitashi" with pureed Tofu
  • Tofu steak with Shiitake mushroom and Sakura shaped carrots
  • Miso soup
  • Rice with 16 grains

もう一枚は、友人がくれたお土産。
彼女はインド出身、ということで日本のガイドブックを見て二人で盛り上がりました!私は今年3月に学業でインドに行ったばかりなのでとっても盛り上がりました!

My friend seemed to enjoy these dishes :)
She gave me many Indian snacks in return! (See the 2nd picture!) You might wonder what the book is. This is a Japanese travel guidebook for India. I bought it because I went to India in February for my study. My friend can’t read Japanese but really enjoyed the book. You know, everyone likes to see the information on his or her hometown.
