I made this one time before, but the version with a lot of water.
If you are interested (:
This time I made a thicker yokan with some autumn feeling thanks to the combination of chestnuts, chocolate and red bean paste. Although this is a summer snack in Japan.. ^^
Anyway, let me show you guys the recipe;

Ingredients;

  • Red bean paste
  • Sugar
  • Agar agar
  • Water
  • Chocolate
  • Chestnuts

Instructions;

Step 1; Red bean paste.

  • Soak the beans overnight.
  • Cook the beans about one hour in boiled water.

  • Squeeze one azuki bean with your fingers, if it is smushed, it’s done.

  • Turn up the heat to high and add sugar. Stir constantly.

  • Once the sugar dissolves turn the heat off. The paste will thicken more when it cools.

Step 3; Chocolate and mixing.

  • Once the agar agar is dissolved add the chocolate.

  • Once the chocolate is dissolved add the red bean paste.

    20170925_143905.jpg
  • Once red bean paste has completely dissolved remove from the heat to let it cool a bit for 1 minute.
  • Pour mixture into mold.

Step 4; chestnuts.

  • The last step is really easy, after pouring just add the chestnuts.

That's it! Just let it in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
Once it's done cut it in pieces and enjoy!
