Everyone knows that there are many kinds of pancakes, but few know the history of the origin of pancakes and where they came from when they became especially popular and in which country the first pancakes were prepared.

The origin of pancakes. Who invented them?


Pancakes are considered from ancient times as a national Russian dish. Even the ancient Slavs baked pancakes, giving them a round shape to a golden color, so they looked like the sun and more often on holidays.

Also pancakes were baked for a thousand years before the principalities for ancient rituals and religious holidays. Pancakes were also used for various divination.

And now in many families do not forget the recipe for real pancakes, adding in them various fillings and sauces.

What is the difference between Russian pancakes and others?


From the Slavs pancakes went all over the world. Each country has contributed to the preparation of pancakes.

Englishmen like to bake pancakes in a dry frying pan and make them very sweet, adding various syrups. The Germans and the French like to make pancakes very thin almost transparent. But fill the finished pancakes with cognac and sprinkle with powdered sugar. In America and Mexico, pancakes are baked thick, adding butter, sugar and various fillings, and maple syrup is also used.

How were pancakes baked in Russia?


Our grandmothers baked pancakes from the leaven. It comes from the remains of dough, after each baking. It added eggs, vegetable oil, melted milk, sugar, salt and flour. The kneading dough was waiting for it to rise and bubble. Ready dough Spread out on a hot frying pan, greased with a slice of fat. Fried pancakes from two sides. Then spread on a plate and greased with butter and sprinkled with sugar. Various jams, sour cream and honey were used as fillings. Pancakes are usually baked for holidays.

Today, there are many different recipes for pancakes. Everyone bakes pancakes according to their recipe. I want to show you my recipe for pancakes.


Recipe

Ingredients:

Milk - 500 ml

Eggs - 3 pcs.

Flour - 200 g

Butter - 30 g

Sugar - 2 tbsp. 

Salt - 0,5 tsp.

Preparation:

Prepare all the ingredients. They should be room temperature. Melt the butter and let it cool. Mix the eggs with sugar and salt until smooth. Then add the milk to the egg mass and mix everything. Sift the flour to the egg mass. Mix well the dough to get rid of the lumps. Then pour the melted butter into the dough. So the dough will turn out more gentle with a creamy taste. The dough should be quite liquid, about like a thick cream. If the dough turns out very thick, add a little more milk or water to it.

When the dough is ready start fry pancakes. Lubricate the frying pan with oil only before frying the first pancake, then this is not required, enough oil, which we added to the dough. Well heat the frying pan on fire, thanks to this pancakes turn porous and ruddy. Pour the dough into a frying pan and rotate it around in a circle so that the dough fills the entire surface of the frying pan. Roast each pancake until golden brown on each side.

Ready pancakes place on a plate and pour with butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar. You can also add any jam, sour cream and honey to the pancakes.
