As you guys know, I am currently in Barcelona, Spain with some friends and fellow Steemians to celebrate my Birthday.
Barcelona is a very vibrant city with a lot of different things to do - and incredible food!
This will be Part 1 of a series of different Mr. Gourmet posts in Barcelona. Every single restaurant or dish I tried here was absolutely amazing, so of course I have to share that with you!
There's an area close to the Beach and Harbor called "Barceloneta", which is filled with countless lively restaurants, bars and shops.
The beach promenade was absolutely stunning - the water was glistening, and it was mostly sunny with only few clouds.
We sat down at the beach and enjoyed the sun for a moment - but suddenly, the clouds were gathering and there was a very strong wind. The wind was actually so strong that several parasols got blown away and it also started raining.
We already thought we'd have to leave the beach - but only a few minutes later, the sky was clearing up again and the sun returned.
So me and @mrs.steemit, @soldier, @vanylou and @agent decided to have some lunch.
There are many different restaurants in this area of Barcelona, but we were in the mood for some authentic tapas once again.
Without even really looking for a specific restaurant, we just wandered around -
and stumbled upon this homely-looking restaurant called "Terrace Sky 54".
They offer a great variety of Tapas, Burgers, Seafood, Salads and more!
When I looked at the menu, the first things that caught my attention were some chicken wings.
But not just any chicken wings - they were coated in teriyaki sauce and topped with spring onions and sesame!
It was such an interesting mixture of flavours, slightly sweet but also hearty and even a tiny bit spicy.
These were definitely some of the best and most unique chicken wings I've ever had!
Next up, something fresh: 2 different variations of Salad!
A fresh Salad is always nice, but it's especially great in the warm climate here in spain.
We went for two very unique Salads:
The first one with Shrimps, Avocado, Mango Dressing and Mango Pieces, and another Salad with Feta Cheese, Watermelon and Avocado.
Both were a mix of fruit and salad, which might sound quite unusual - but actually, the fruit tastes perfectly fresh and adds a whole other dimension to the salad.
I especially enjoyed the combination of shrimps, avocado and mango dressing - maritime, sweet, creamy and fresh all in one! Absolutely delicious!
And then: Some Spanish Tapas!
I really enjoy fried calamari, so I have to try it everytime I see this dish on the menu.
These ones were especially crispy, the breading was a little bit more chunky - almost like cornflakes.
The calamari were topped with garlic-infused mayo and chives - they were absolutely delicious! Especially with a little spritz of lemon!
Lastly: NACHOS!
I'm a big fan of Nachos anyway, but when I saw these homemade nachos with guacamole and cheese on the menu, I had to get them!
The Nachos were perfectly crisp, and the guacamole was fresh and had some avocado chunks in it. Everything was topped with some marinated tomatoes and onions - so delicious!
I was already quite full after all of these delicacies, but I just couldn't help myself and looked at the dessert menu.
What caught my attention was a "mango cheesecake crumble". I didn't really know what to expect, but ordered it anyway!
The bottom of the jar was filled with sweet, juicy mango pieces, then topped with a cheesecake cream and cookie crumbles on top.
It was the perfect mixture between fruity/sour, sweet, creamy and crunchy!
What an amazing day at the beach with some delicious food - but there are so many more restaurants and dishes to explore in Barcelona!
This definitely won't be the last post of Mr. Gourmet in Barcelona.
If you are ever in the city, be prepared for some amazing FOOD!
There's so much more to come - until next time! Cheers!
