Greetings Steemit friends:
When it comes to food, France is surely a powerhouse in terms of it's influence in the foodosphere. With Michelin guide restaurants and Michelin starred restaurants taking a lot of the limelight, it is often easy to miss out on the little cafes, bakeries and sweet makers that dazzle us with their taste sense inducing delights.
Today, I'm introducing one of the most famous of these bakeries. Ladurée.
Founded in 1862 by Louis-Ernest Ladurée, it has since become an iconic bakery for it's Macaroons and I've read that it sells over 15,000 macaroons each day!
With 6 stores in Paris alone, and nearly 100 stores world wide, Ladurée's popularity and reputation is only on the rise.
After a long day of sightseeing, I decided to visit on my last day in Paris before taking the flight back.
Aside from desserts, Ladurée actually serves cooked meals which I've heard are also very good. I decided to try both.
Let's take a look !
Ladurée is really recognisable because of it's gold lettering and green background for it's logo. It has a real sense of class, but thankfully the Macaroons are actually quite affordable. Macaroons are often given as presents and Ladurée perfectly caters for this with a very large variety of beautifully made gift boxes ranging in size from just a couple of macaroons to large gift boxes enough to share with a whole party of people.
Entering the shop, I feel like i'm walking into a French imperial court room, the frames for the mirrors and walls are golden and we have some very beautiful artwork for wall paper.
There are three menu's, one for desserts, one for drinks, and finally one for the cooked food.
With so many different Macaroons to choose from, I ordered 10 of their most popular to start!
Each macaroon freshly baked. They taste absolutely delightful - certainly a lot better than buying them at concessions!
Next up, we have Organic chicken breast “Vol-au-vent”, wild mushrooms and cream sauce.
How could I not have French fries in France??
Organic Chicken fillet, romaine and sucrine salad with Caesar dressing, parmesan biscuits,
anchovies and bread crust!
An amazing Macaroon cake tower! I didn't order this, but it sure looks spectacular!
Hope you enjoyed my little visit to Ladurée in Paris!
