Happy Friday! You know what that means? It means we are again another day closer to our regular Sunday Brunch Day!
Last weekend we visited a cafe in Rhodes called 'Left of Field'. We would say it is quite a popular spot but not a place where you'd find hipster brunch people. Instead, you'll find that people who dine here are very much relaxed, those who genuinely want a coffee and a meal and really to just catch up. No crazy instagram users here!
What's ideal about this place is that its right next the Rhodes' waterside walk. It makes it perfect for days if you're wanting to go for a little walk and then stopping for a coffee and to grab a bite. This place is also pet friendly so there were a few people who were at the cafe after a walk and had their dogs with them.
This cafe had cute floral decorations on each table. Our table had a little pineapple :)
Keeping to the relaxed atmosphere, this cafe had minimal interior with plant based decorations on the walls. Plenty of natural light which kept the cafe looking bright as well.
The menu consisted of a lot food items which we haven't seen offered at other cafes. Not sure how to explain the theme of their menu but you can decide for yourself from the below.
The chicken breast was a little dry however it was overall an enjoyable burger.
Our friend who ordered this dish didn't quite enjoy it as she did not like the beans used in this dish. Another friend who had a taste of it quite enjoyed it and helped finish most of the dish.
This one became a bit too much once you've passed the half way mark. The tahini, beetroot hummus and pumpkin together were too rich as a combination. Regardless, it was still quite delicious.
This was pretty filling as there was a generous serving of smoked salmon. All textures were soft as they used a milk bun and not sourdough.
This was probably the most average dish. Would not order again. This only happened because someone was craving rice after not having rice for over two days hahaha! Asian problems? Not too sure...
Both drinks tasted great and refreshing. The green juice had a very strong parsley flavour though.
We visited on a Sunday so the place was pretty busy. We waited about 15 minutes for a table for six. The service by staff was average. Can't complain about that. Only downside was that the service of our food was a little slow. It's quite a large cafe and it was also pretty busy so again, can't complain too much.
Price for six people (everyone got meals and drink) was around $180 AUD. It is a bit pricier than average cafes as that's about $30 per person.
Would we visit again? Maybe yes but not something so soon.
