Believe it or not these beautiful chili peppers were hanging on a post in a day spa near Taos, New Mexico. I love rustic aged wood mixed with some sort of natural surrounding like flowers or herbs. In this instance I was able to capture the local tradition of the southwestern chili.
As a food, I can remember my grandfather making chili sauce and stinking up the entire house. No one could breathe because the spice was so strong. If a person inhaled the spice it would make them choke. The aroma was very strong. The positive side was the home made taste of fresh chili sauce and dipping the sauce with fresh made tortillas. Yum!
