Here is my Monday contribution to @juliank's @photocontests under the category #foodphotography, @howtostartablog's #dailyfoodphotography and @jeffjagoe's #STEEMFoodTours.

Photo taken using Vivo smartphone.

The photo above is the restaurant's very own Takai Yama roll. It consists of fresh salmon, crab sticks, thinly sliced vegetable sticks rolled in seaweed sheets and rice topped with fried salmon and covered with their own garlic sauce.

Takai Yama is found in Camp 7, #Baguio-City (1-2 kms from the city proper). This is situated on the edge of a hill which gives a view of Mt. Cabuyao or Sto. Tomas. It is therefore properly named because the #Japanese word takai means "high" and yama means mountain. #Baguio-City is around 1,500 meters above sea level. That's some high for you. If you plan on visiting this place, I suggest go there just before the sun sets or at night. It is in the neighborhood of a lot of houses so the display lights is a plus.

This restaurant used to be an ancestral house. It was built in the 40s and then it was renovated around 1980s. In 2017, it was fully renovated and restored to house Takai Yama.

We also ordered their Brooklyn Roll which consists of tuna and roe eggs with a sprinkle of bits of leeks.

We were used to the bit size of sushi served in other #Japanese Restaurants that we did not expect how big bites these rolls are and plentiful serving at that! The Takai Yama roll is priced at Php 310.00 (around USD6.00) and the Brooklyn Roll is priced at Php 295.00. One order of either is enough for two people.

We also sampled their ramen. My bases for #ramen is #Korean #ramen so this pales in comparison. The spicy ramen is mild in spiciness. It needs for vegetables, which is what I like about Korean ramen. It has steamed vegetables dumplings and a slice of rice cake though so that is a merit. The non-spicy ramen has more in it with egg and pork.

Overall, I would rate this as 3.5/5. Mind though that every taste and likes is subjective. My rating would differ with each individual. Also, I am not an expert so don't quote me on this. Suffice to say that I went in not expecting much but came out more satisfied than I thought I would.

At least I get to experience what @enjieneer mentioned in one of her blogs (Torched Salmon Sushi Rolls) about how a fish can melt in your mouth. If what she mentioned was the one I experienced, then I would be looking forward to dining in a #Japanese restaurant again. The "melting" happens I think because of how thinly sliced the fish is and the meat is soft which is makes it easy to "melt" in your mouth. You don't have to chew it, just suck on it lol!
