WHEN BLESSINGS FLOW – WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PROVISION

I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a dream that seemed like it would be a lot of work…

Then, suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, -BOOM-, the provision comes before you even have a chance to take action or fully formulate a plan.

Life certainly doesn’t always go that way, but earlier this week, it sure did for me!

The land that we are in the process of purchasing lines a long length of a gravel road. Quite a few of the neighbors drive past it every day. There is a long trench for water to run down when it rains, as the ground is mostly rock and clay and doesn’t absorb water well.

I thought that it would be nice to line the top ridge of the trench with a rock barrier and some perennial plants. Of course I really like food plants, but perennial flowers certainly have their place too. Since I have literally hundreds of feet of land lining the roadway, it means that to actually pull off this idea, I would need hundreds of plants…

As things happened to occur, I took a drive to town with @grandpa-pepper. At the end of someone’s driveway was what appeared to be a huge pile of uprooted Irises. Obviously, I quickly turned around and went back. Sure enough, there were about 100 free Irises laying right there.

Then, the very next day I drove to town with @mama-pepper. In the same exact spot was a huge pile of Canna Lilies and Daylilies!

Obtaining the plants was certainly easy enough this time. What a wonderful provision! Of course, the hard part came next. So far, I’ve got about a third of them put in. With enough free rocks to go around and free mulch in town, the cost of this project will be minimal.

However, the labor required will be a lot. I’ll continue next week, but so far, so good. One of my favorite parts is that once these plants are established they will multiply in numbers every year. Not only will the border of our property fill in quite nicely, but as they fill in and spread, I should have plenty to share in the years to come. Perennial plants like this are certainly a gift that keeps giving!

HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO TO END WITH

I know that my goal may be just a pleasant project and not a necessity, but apparently it is becoming a reality!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:
