There was a knock on the door early in the morning. With my heavy eyelids, I walked to the door with my groggy self having from working in front of the computer the whole night. It was work, a last minute request from the boss before he flies to Brazil for his business trip.
"What's this?"
I stared blankly as an old purple wooden box caught my eyes. Someone apparently left it in front of my house but there was no one in sight.
I opened and saw some pictures and love letters of an unidentified old couple. I walked in and though I know I shouldn't be a 'busy body', I opened the letters one by one and read through its contents, trying to make sense with hopes I could identify some sort of familiarity among the piles.
They were letters from an old couple, I'll spare you the details but it seems that they were separated by distance due to some unmentioned circumstances but kept their connection and relationship on. They apparently have their own family but their spouses have already gone to be with the Lord.
I heard a knock on the door again. This time, I hurriedly walk to the door with one of the letters still on my hand.
"Hello, dear. I see you've gotten my box. Can I have it back?"
It was the old man in the photo.
"I hope you enjoyed reading my letters. They mean so much to me. Remember, love is a wonderful thing. Treasure it with all your heart. It's all that matters in the end."
I was utterly surprised and almost embarrassed that I was caught in the act for prying into the old man's box. "Let me get you your box...", while I slowly backed off and ran to my desk.
As I fetched the purple wooden box and headed back to the door, the old man was gone. I looked into the box and a card suddenly appeared. It says,
"Love strong. Love like there's no tomorrow."
