Day 19: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: A Purple Squirrel

I was late as usual, Betty would be upset but I wasn't worried about that. Brushing the condensation off of the dollar store mirror I located the nick from trying to shave in such a big hurry, and I tabbed a bit of toilet paper on it to stop the bleeding. Cheap motels in even cheaper towns, I needed a stake to get me into prime time again. Betty was my ticket, I just needed to schmooze a little longer and I was sure that she would come through for me. We had only been together for a few weeks, for now she thought I was still rolling in cryptos and on my way to the moon. I had met her through a friend at a local meetup for a promising new ICO, and when she told me she was a purple squirrel I thought "oh Brother." But it turns out that it was the name of their band "The Purple Squirrels" and they had just signed a contract. That was when I really turned on the old charm!

Tonight would seal the deal, I would make the pitch during dinner, I would look distracted and in deep thought and would hardly pay any attention to her, until she got mad or said something about it. Then I would give her the story, my phone had been jacked, my bitcoin key stolen, my crytos were gone right before the big pre sale of Ignitocoins, all that work that I had done to prepare, everything I owned was on that phone primed and ready and now it was all gone. I would tell her that I was broke and that I couldn't see her anymore. I would refuse her help at first, I couldn't let her risk her money even though I thought it was a sure thing. I would tell her not to worry about me, I would be fine. I would explain that I loved her too much to be responsible for dragging her down, I'll find you when I'm back on my feet I would say. But then she'll insist, and I'll be back in business!
