An Unexpected Turnip of Events (Gardening - 5 minute Freewrite Day 132)

Do you remember the Flower Madness?
Well...that's what happened after a couple of months.

An Unexpected Turnip of Events

Flower murders had spread everywhere. It was clear that the vegetal life of all the planet had acquired a conscience. It wasn't clear if some peculiar climate situation started the process, but the biologist professor A. C. Cabbage advanced a disturbing hypothesis:

"I think they evolved during millions of years. A silent evolution, they deliberately kept hidden until an agreed time. I had the privilege of being able to communicate with a delegation of what they call Liberation Frond. They were planting the seeds of these events since longtime."

Professor Cabbage was unable to release more information due to a sudden attack of artichoke.
The Liberation Frond claimed numerous murders and attacks on farmers, greengrocers and notable salad consumers.
The next step was the phenomenon of human gardening. In order to gain mediatic attention over the Chives Right Movement, whose final purpose was the right of vote for tubers and vegetables ("democRadish for all seasons"), members of the plant action group kidnapped, pruned and repotted politicians of every country.
Many of them turned out to be potatoes in disguise, gave fruit and joined the movement.
