5 minute freewrite: Thursday prompt: fried chicken

The spacesuit was bulky and uncomfortable. The helmet kept fogging up; obviously, there was a malfunction in it somewhere. Herbie stumbled along on the planet's uneven surface, hoping to find the rest of the crew. It had been a bad landing, totally unplanned, on an unknown planet somewhere in an unnamed galaxy. These things happened, Herbie knew, but did they have to happen to him? Everyone had scattered when the spacecraft crashed, hoping to escape further injury if it exploded. Which it did not. So here he was, all alone, God knows where, wondering where everyone else had gotten to. It had been several hours now, and he didn't really understand how so much time could have elapsed without encountering any familiar faces. Well, suits. Can't see their faces, really. Now he was getting hungry. A nice, cold Pepsi would be so wonderful just now! And a hamburger, and onion rings. His mouth began to water. There was an emergency packet of dried food somewhere in his space suit, but it wouldn't taste very good, and he couldn't very well get it out while wandering around on some planet. He really needed to be back inside the spacecraft to properly eat anything. And that was completely ruined now. Surely there would be some sort of life form here, someone to help them out of this situation.

Herbie noticed an opening in the rocky slope ahead and decided to take a closer look. There were footprints leading up to it, spacesuit footprints, which meant at least one of his crew mates had already arrived here to look around. Probably more than one, based on the number of footprints. He was able to enter the opening by crouching just a little. Inside it was surprisingly light, although he could not tell from what source the light was coming. There was a long table filled with every delectable treat anyone could think of , including a few from other planets where he'd never been. And right in the middle was a huge platter of fried chicken!!
