My favorite wildflower, is the State flower for the great State of Texas 🇨🇱, beautiful bluebonnets. They have all died out by now because of the high temperatures, but two months ago they painted the side of the highways, with their majestic blue hues.
People stop on the sides of the highways to take their obligatory bluebonnet family photos. Adults, kids, pets, and babies are posed among the wildflowers, so some weekend photographer can try and snap that perfect shot for their Christmas cards.
All is fine, until someone plops down on a couple of rattlesnakes going at it, among those sweet smelling beauties. Then we hear on the news, about those idiots who didn't take a minute to make sure their patch was free of diamondbacks, and were rushed to the emergency room for some anti-venom.
Just to let you know, I've never layed down in a field of bluebonnets, not because of the snakes, but because I wouldn't be able to get back up. Those poor little wildflowers wouldn't be able to survive all this man meat.
