He Has You In The Palm Of His Hand

Is it possible for you to understand?
Can you fathom what he really wants?
Do you have what it takes to discern?
How long can you tolerate his wounds?

You tore down your own walls,
Because you saw him bleeding alone;
You broke your own rules,
So you can save him and be his home.

At first you were just being pure and kind,
Until you realized being needed is much like love;
You dismissed your pride to give him what you think he wants.
A great twist of fate—Now—he has you in the palm of his hand.

You've done everything for him to fall for you,
Followed and abide every rules in every "Love" book;
You consulted magazines and even 'Youtube',
Just so you can be the cool girl he would choose.

And just like that, everything changed from sweet to sour,
Clingy, Jealous, and pathetic that's what he calls you now;
You lost yourself just to be the one you thought he wanted.
When in reality you give up the YOU he actually opted.

“You are not an option, a choice or a soft place to land after a long battle. You were meant to be the one. If you can wrap yourself around the idea that you are something incredible, then you will stop excusing behavior that rapes your very soul. You were never meant to teach someone to love you. You were meant to be loved.” ― Shannon L. Alder
