How are you doing?
Why are you here on your own and loitering,
Shouldn't you be out there playing?
I wonder why you feel so blue—so afraid;
You trust no one, that's what your eyes said,
I can see threats, terror and dread.
Told you my stories, hoping it can help you so;
And then like fire you ignited and glow,
You blurted, "Why does people have to be cruel and rotten-low."
It's as if our color makes us a worthless creation;
You didn't ask to be born in a world full of discrimination,
But now like others your suffering trepidation.
We need to be heard and cut the gap;
We fight for the day, that our differences doesn't divide us
That day, where our children have no idea of the prejudice that happened in their past.
“Men build too many walls and not enough bridges.”― Joseph Fort Newton
