Opposites Attract
Are you referring to Men and Women?
I don't know about you, but I find people the polar opposite of me to be quite disagreeable (duh!). In a debate, it's fine taking a contrary position for the sake of developing the points of discussion. But no, we're not making life, a full time debate.
Agreeing to disagree is really just setting the problem aside, and even achieving that is actually rather hard. At-least it is for opinionated people such as myself. Much of the time, it's not even the other person's fault for behaving so oppositely and disagreeable, it's just how genetics work.
Apparently the X Chromosomes carry a larger instruction set than the Y Chromosomes. And it just so happens that women have two, and men have one. Not my decision folks, mother nature knows what's up!
One of the most robust sex differences in personality research is the finding that women are higher in Agreeableness than men are. The difference is over half a standard deviation, which means that although there is plenty of overlap between the sexes, the average man scores lower than 70 per cent of women.

Hygiene
Okay, so us ladies look a little different after a shower. . But, I bet you will be hard pressed to find a lady who doesn't wash every day.
And yet, I know from experience (and my father) that men can go extended periods without having a wash, and feeling not in the least bit dirty.
Why it requires constant reminder to maintain personal hygiene I do not know. I guess that's why they called the neanderthals cavemen.
Communication
Women are sentimental creatures. Aside from reminding the man to WASH, the purpose of communication is to share our feelings, and build a connection with the person we're talking to. It's also an opportunity for us to solidify our understanding of something, and work through it in our own words.
Communication is often enough for women to consider a problem "solved". The act of conversing with someone who really listens is often all that is required to make a women feel better. No further action is required.
Men on the other hand, require conversations to have purpose.
Men will listen up until the point they think they've heard enough to provide a solution.
Then, quickly put into action their plan to put out the fire.
It's all about purpose and efficiency. Problem, and Solution.
For men, expressing feelings and sharing their 'problems' through direct communication is difficult. Not only is it not 'manly' to talk about petty problems in the presence of a girl. It's also probable that he has already extended considerable effort to solving the problem to no avail. In this situation, man once again becomes caveman and retreats to his cave to side step the problem and occupy himself with other activities such as watching TV, playing games and getting even more dirty.
Mutual level of Attraction is inversely proportional with respect to time.
It is said that Men often become more attractive as they age. George Clooney frequently brought up as an example. Meanwhile women eventually give in to the laws of gravity. Some try to hang on with copious amounts of plastic surgery, but neither prevention or cure can win the battle against time.
Why do women care so much about maintenance? Because we all know about this chart!
Men and Women were created to complement each other, but imagine a world where opposites sparsely exist, a world perhaps where there was only one gender.. no, not talking about hermaphrodites, I'm thinking such as in the movie "No Men Beyond This Point".

难道我们被相反的人吸引，为什么男生和女生行为会那么不一样呢。大概是因为基因的原因，X的染色体功能比较多，而女生呢，刚好拥有2个X，看来大自然比较倾向于女生。卫生：虽然女生洗澡后的形象会令人有点失望，但是能找到每天都勤劳洗澡的男生也是不容易的，这是为什么他们叫做“原始人类”。沟通：女生除了叫男生记得洗澡，也会找男生洗澡为了缓解一天的压力，当一个女生找男生聊天的时候，她不是在找男生解决问题，而是纯粹想找人聊天。不知道你们听说过这样一个说法没，男生年纪越大越有吸引力，女生则是随着年纪增长会变得不自信起来。所以保养很重要。
