This post is quite special because I’ll only use it as a link for my Go post. I receive some message asking for some explanation of the Go terms so I decided to make a list of them and their signification.
Japanese term | Signification |
---|---|
Aji | Potential, often use to call a weak position where there are still things to do. |
Moyo | Potential territory, you often like to create a big moyo. |
Joseki | Fair and well-known trade between the two players in the early game. |
Tenuki | The fact of don't answer a move from your opponent. |
Goban | Board where you can play Go. |
San-san | The 3-3 point, just know that there is one san-san in each corner. |
Hoshi | Star point, often used to call to 4-4 point when you're taking a corner. |
Komoku | It's the 3-4 point in the corner. |
Keima | Similar to the knight move in chess. |
Tengen | Name of the central point of a Goban. |
Hane | Move above, ahead of opponent stone. |
Kosumi | Diagonal move. |
Tesuji | Smart move, often use to call a powerful move. |
Shisho | Capturing sequence where you capture something with a stair shape. |
Chinese opening | Opening strategy with a hoshi, a komuku and a stone in the middle near the hoshi. |
San rei sei | Opening strategy where you take 3 hoshi on one side. |
