If you're unfamiliar with this series, basically I share a soundtrack and my thoughts about it, and I highly recommend listening to the song while reading! 😊
It's the end of February! If you haven't caught my last couple of posts, I decided to write all the OST posts for this past month in the theme of love! You know, because of Valentine's Day and stuff. I think it was quite an interesting "challenge" because you wouldn't normally associate video game songs with love, but I think I covered some interesting songs. We had a song for couple love, brotherly love, and mother's love.
And we're ending it off with the song that I wanted to write about in the first place; from Maplestory!

So just to recap if you're unfamiliar with this game, Maplestory is a free-to-play, 2D side-scrolling MMORPG, developed by Wizet. There were actually many different versions for specific countries and regions with their own publishers. I played the MapleSEA version which was published by Nexon and was released in 2005. Specifically I played the pre-Big Bang version so I'm not too familiar with all the newer jobs and areas.
I know I've done so many songs from Maplestory already (5 to be exact), but the soundtrack is just sooo good and so nostalgic. This was also one of the first songs I thought of when I came up with this challenge.
So this song is called Amoria, and it plays in the town with the same name. If you've played Maplestory before, you know this is the map where all the lovebirds gather because it's the town where you can get married in-game!

I remember there were so many new things when the patch for Amoria first dropped. So many new cash items from rings to clothes (including wedding dress and tuxedos), a whole new map, and monsters!

When I was in primary school, there was a whole group of us who would play together after we got home from school. And there was a couple in our group who actually did get married in-game and all of us got invited! BUT, unfortunately there was some problem with my ticket and I missed it!

Man I felt so bummed because all of them were inside the cathedral but I was trapped outside! Arrrrgggh! They even got to go to the secret map afterwards and I didn't! I was so disappointed. And I think none of my friends cared. *sigh* 😔
On the bright side, I did get invited to a Maple wedding many years later on a private server!

Coincidentally, the bride and groom were also Singaporeans! So yay for them!
Well anyway, the reason I thought of this song is because we got married this past month too! And I think it'd be apt to end with another wedding song for the month of love. 💑
The song itself has a pretty nice tune; with quite a prominent drum beat, the piano and acoustic guitar meshes really well together. The flute-sounding instrument carries the melody for the most part, which I think is a good choice for the higher pitch. There are also some synth sounds as backup, as with all Maple music.
Overall, the song is pretty catchy; I wouldn't say it's soothing because I definitely can't fall asleep to the loud drums in the background and the upbeat melody, but I think that's kinda the point. You wouldn't want people falling asleep at your wedding!

I remember just visiting Amoria for fun and there were so many people just sitting there trying to get maple bf/gfs and I think that was pretty much how I got my first maple bf. 😅

But anyway, kudos to Studio EIM for this amazing soundtrack. It's still one of my go-to playlists whenever I'm painting or writing. Maplestory was a huge part of my life and I think no matter how old I get or how many games I play, it will always have a place in my heart.
