My weekend with Kaladesh prerelease tournaments [MtG]

So I'm back in my hometown... Last weekend I went to Warsaw to play some Magic: the Gathering in Kaladesh prerelease tournaments. Finally I have some time to write a little about this experience.

Saturday

The first tournament took place on Saturday 24.09 and it was rather big. There were 122 players and I think it was the largest of Polish Kaladesh prereleases.

Everyone seemed excited about opening their packs, but after seeing their new cards, some players had yet more reasons to be happy.

My rares and mythic rares from the pack. Sorry for the quality of the photo - in my defense I can say that I suck at this.

Yeah, I pushed all the limits of luck with my rares and mythics. White and red deck seemed pretty obvious - with bombs like Chandra, Angel of Invention, Skysovereign and Depala, and with good artifacts: Cultivator's Caravan and Key to the City.

Uncommons and commons followed the lead of those great cards, providing good removal and solid creatures. So I assembled a powerful WR deck...

I won the first four matches, but something went wrong in the fifth, which I lost 1:2. My opponent in the sixth round was the winner of the previous prerelease. We had a draw. Then I won the last round and I came 6th in the tournament, which is not bad - but one more look at my bombs probably makes you wonder, how the hell did I lose even one match... ;)

You can see the full standings here.

You won't find me on this photo - I'm ruining it from behind the camera.

Sunday

The Sunday event wasn't that big. Some players paired up in teams to play Two-Headed Giant format. I played a single player sealed deck again. My pack wasn't as great as the day before, but I opened Angel of Invention again. Fumigate (prerelease promo) was my second bomb.

Finally, a good quality image (from magiccardmarket.eu)

I also opened Saheeli Rai and Pia Nalaar, but my blue was weak (and Saheeli seems not that great in limited) and my red was too aggressive to match my powerful white cards. I didn't have bombs in black, but there were some good creatures and removal spells in this color, so I decided to go with WB deck.

There were 53 players in the tournament, so we were going to play six rounds. I won the first three matches and had a draw in the fourth. Then I won again and there were three players (including me) with 13 points before the last round. There was no one who won all five matches. I was paired on the first table with another player with 13 points and it was pretty clear that the winner of our match will win the whole tournament. Unfortunately, my deck decided that it's a perfect time to get on my nerves a little.

In the first game I kept a good hand with three lands, but that was all the mana I've had for the whole game. That wasn't enough to survive my opponent's attacks. In the second game I had to take a mulligan. The six cards I drew weren't good, but they were better than random five, so I kept them. The miracle didn't happen and I lost 0:2. I came 6th again.

Another blurry picture for your confusion.
