Gaming Retrospective - Divine Divinity

Divine Divinity is an ARPG from 2002 made by Larian Studios way before they gained massive popularity with Divinity: Original Sin.  Game was released few years after Diablo 2 and during the peak of Diablo 2 popularity Divine Divinity was kinda sidelined and left to play only by few. However ARPG community did notice great things this game offered with excellent isometric art style, huge open world to explore and throngs of enemies to slay. To anyone who gets this basic premise of what ARPG stands for, if you somehow missed this game it is never too late to try it out, even 15 years later. Story is a generic fantasy one where hero raises to beat corrupt mages, it is not only about main story, there are many interesting side quests worth exploring too.

Class system is open ended, there are no restrictions how your character can end up, it is absolutely possible to have melee armored character that casts spells. Hero will need to use all the tools on his disposal in order to clear all those tough monsters. Players can also use some skills not generally seen in other ARPG's like bartering, lockpicking, persuation and pickocketing. Players could also manipulate objects to find some secrets, again something you don't see in similar games. Divine Divinity looks and feels like a classic ARPG with interesting setting and fun game mechanics. It is one of the best ARPG's of all times and anyone who played it can confirm that fact.
