Rage is a postapocalyptic FPS game from 2011 developed by popular id Software, a company behind Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake, a who's who of FPS games, so you know based on their products history that they know how to make a quality FPS game. Rage had so many great elements, first a great looking postapocalyptic setting, great shooting mechanics, heck, even great driving mechanics. Story of the game goes something like this, in a not too distant future an asteroid destroyed most of our planet and wiped most of our civilization. The players take a role of a former marine that woke up from a cryo sleep he was put on before the apocalypse. He will need to survive in this postapocalyptic world filled with all sorts of bandits and mutated creatures.
There are several interesting game mechanics in this game, world exploration with buggy like upgradable vehicles, upgradable weapons and equipment, very fun shooting elements with realistic hit animations. There are side quests you can explore and find schematics for more advanced weapons and equipment, you can even participate in wasteland races (guns included). During some missions you can go with more stealth approach and use very effective wingstick, a throwable and silent weapon that severs heads with ease, or you can go like a mad man and waste all your ammo. Rage game world is madly creative and I would recommend this game to anyone who happened to missed it.
