PC Game Review - Hearthstone

                                                   Introduction

Hearthstone is a card game from Blizzard. This game is very popular and most of you have probably heard about it or even played it. This game looks simple and casual at first glance, but underneath the hood it is stuningly deep and quite addictive.

                                                      Gameplay

We have 9 main classes each with their distinct class cards and hero power, they are all taken from Warcraft universe.

  • Warlock
  • Priest
  • Mage
  • Warrior
  • Rogue
  • Paladin
  • Shaman
  • Hunter
  • Druid

The goal of this game is to create your deck of 30 cards. Chose a hero and pick their class cards with some neutral cards every class can choose from. With that fresh new deck you compete with other players or friends in ranked mode, arena, tavern brawl or simple 1v1 action. Every turn you get 1 mana crystal and you can spend that mana for 1 mana card, each turn you get +1 mana up to 10, so you can combo cards of different mana value. You need to balance your deck between 5 card types. Basic cards with no gem inside.

Common or white, your simple cheep cards.

Rare or blue, slightly stronger cards.

Epic of purple, rare and very strong cards.

Legendary or gold, strongest and the most expensive cards in the game.

Once you have created your deck you can start competing with other players and start earning gold. With gold you can buy packs from which you get new cards. If you get duplicates you can destroy them and get "Dust". Dust is used to create cards that you want the most, that rare legendary you wanted all along. Every day there are also new quests, for example win 3 games with hunter and receive 40 gold for that. One card pack is 100 gold. Pack opening is fun, you never know what will you get.

Every year Blizzard releases one expansion and adventure mode with brand new cards in the system that can change the meta game. Goblins and Gnomes, The Grand Tournament, Whispers of the Old Gods are the 3 big ones with 150 new cards in each expansion. In this 3 years game was out Hearthstone already have close to 2000 cards. Huge number of decks can be made from those. So you can see the complexity of this game.

Good old Murlock Deck in action.

"The Dream" - When you get your combo going.

                                                Conclusion

This game can be run on any old PC, it is not hardware hungry. Free to play means that you can just install it on you computer without paying any real money. So what are you waiting for?

Final score 9/10
