Star Trek Armada Games

Star Trek franchise captured imagination of many people and it is no surprise why there is such a big cult following today. Many Star Trek games were released over the years and one of the best gaming series for sure is Star Trek Armada. RTS in space with many Star Trek alien races and of course Human Federation. Armada is nicely animated and fluid RTS game and you can easily get hooked on this series. Two Star Trek Armada games were released and both games are worth playing.

Star Trek Armada

First game was released in 2000 and it immediately got an attention from RTS gamers including me. It is a full on RTS game in Star Trek universe, nothing similar was done before and many were excited to try out this new take on Star Trek universe. Story is revolving around captain Piccard trying to save the alpha quadrant from the new Borg threat, and other races are not making it easy for him. There are four playable races, Federation, Romulan, Klingons and Borg. Goal is to set the star base, mine dilithium and build your armada. Every ship you build has it's own strengths and special attacks, every ship has that distinct flavor depending on the race you pick. Game looked great at the time and it is among my favorite RTS's.

Star Trek Armada 2

Sequel of the first Start Trek Armada game was released in 2001 and it did good like the first game. Armada 2 had more races to choose from, more ship classes, and of course it had improved graphics. You could pick between Federation, Romulan, Borg, Klingons, Kardassians and Species 8472. Borg returned to the alpha quadrant and Piccard had to forge a plan how to stop them again, this time however, new and more dangerous Species 8472 started to appear and threaten everything, in all that chaos new alliances were made between old enemies in atempt to stop the Species 8472.  Game had some over the top super weapons like 8 Borg cubes fused in one giant cube of death and destruction, or some subspace energy wave from Klingons that is powerful like 10000 nukes, every race had one and those super weapons that are very fun to use. Interesting Start Trek story, fun gameplay, diverse factions, what else can you wish for.
