Check☑ Check☑ Check☑ ….. Grow Box Ready

What's up, Steemians.

In order to have the best-growing environment for my little chilies I built a grow box some years ago. I simply used an old fish tank in order to save money and don’t invest so much money. It was a little experiment, which worked out. I control in my grow box the temperature, humidity and the duration of light.

Before I start the season, I do normally a check of the grow box. After 8 months of rest, I need to test the systems to see if they are working.

Let’s make the check together:

  • Temperature: the temperature is controlled via a wired sensor and a simple time and temperature switch. I had to put a new battery into the control since the display showed nothing. Now it works and I see the heating mat working. CHECKED
  • Circulation: I built two 2 PC fans into the grow box in order to control the humidity in the grow box. It is very important to keep the moisture out to avoid mold during the critical first weeks when the seeds germinate. The fans run 3 times a day for a couple of minutes. Seems they work. The time switch is in place and programmed. CHECKED
  • Light: I use 2 energy saving bulbs for the light. This is very bright and imitates the daylight. Perfect for growing. The time switch is ready, but I had to replace this. The old one was damaged. I was not able to put the plug in anymore. CHECKED

I keep the grow box running for one day to see if everything works as planned. After that, I will turn everything off.

I will start in the next days to put the first seeds into the coconut soil. I have everything in place: soil, seeds and the grow box.

I keep you posted.
