Happy Birthday!
Before we get the celebration started, I want to let you know that there is information on how you can win a prize package including these magnets at the end of this post!!
You’re -215 Years Old Today!
Captain Kirk, born James Tiberius Kirk, will born on March 22, 2233. Born in Riverside, Iowa, Earth, where is ancestors settled after pioneering their was into the American frontier, Kirk would go on to be the youngest Captain in Starfleet history.
We all know about Jimmy’s way with the ladies, his fierce loyalty to Starfleet, the Federation and his crew, and his rebellious way of bucking the system. But there are some things about Captain James Tiberius Kirk that you may not know.
Captain Kirk Is The Face Of Mike Myers
Yep. It’s true. Do you see it??
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Halloween director, John Carpenter, tells the story of the movie’s art director, Tommy Lee Wallace, looking for the mask that Mike would wear in the movie, which had a very low mask budget. Wallace came back to the studio with two masks that he found at Bert Wheeler’s Magic Shop, just up the street from the studio on Hollywood Blvd. One mask was a clown face, the other was Captain Kirk.
It was supposed to be Captain Kirk. It looked nothing like William Shatner, nothing like anybody, really. It was just a strange mask, which was perfect for us. So we spray-painted it, altered the eye holes and just did a couple things with the hair — and there you had it. John Carpenter
Captain Kirk Has a Monument Celebrating His Future Birth
When Riverside, Iowa city councilman, Steve Miller, read The Making of Star Trek, written in 1965, he discovered that Kirk would be born in a small town in Iowa. The specific town was not named, so Miller decided that small town could be Riverside as easily as any other town. In 1985, the town changed its slogan from “Where the Best Begins” to “Where the Trek Begins”. The town’s annual “River Festival” was changed to the “Trek Fest.” On a small piece of property owned by the councilman, a monument to Captain James T. Kirk was erected.
Notice that the birth date on the monument says 2228. Apparently the 2228 date was carved before the 2233 date was made official. I guess future records are hard to keep.
Warning: Prepare To Have Your Mind B-L-O-W-N
Captain James T. Kirk never once said, “Beam me up, Scotty.” It’s true.
He came close in 1969 with, “Beam us up, Scotty.” And in 1986 he said, “Scotty, beam me up.”
But that’s as close as he ever came to,
Thanks for celebrating Captain Kirk’s birthday with me!
