Solar shots - SUNday - 25 February 2018

Today in St. Louis, we saw clear skies for the first time in seven days. I took advantage of it this evening and set up my tripod in the location that worked for me last year. This spot is a farm stand in the summer, selling some fresh produce from the fields right here. These images are captured with my Fujifilm Finepix S700 and Samsung Galaxy S8.

I used Adobe Photoshop CC to build a 10 frame animation of the solar disk crossing the northern leg of St. Louis' Gateway Arch monument.

I am spotting locations that place the Gateway Arch in the path of the sun as it reaches the horizon. This spot on February 25th puts the sun at the top of the arch and resembles a jewel on a ring.
