@cm-steem has been writing quite a few articles on brainstorming ideas for BOINC projets that could be created for rewards on the Gridcoin Network. The latest one are 7th BOINC project brainstorming thread! Need 100k+ CPUs? Come talk about it! and explains a whole bunch of possibilities that the BOINC platform can be used for.

Synergy of BOINC and Gridcoin

Gridcoin rewards BOINC work evenly throughout all the supported projects with new coins, it's the way we evenly distribute the newly minted coins. This way the projects participants are rewarded for their work while the projects continue to be non-profit volunteering projects reliving them from the responsibility and liability of rewarding their users since they are not connected to the rewards distribution.

Anyone can create a BOINC project and apply for Gridcoin Rewards!

The BOINC platform in developed and maintained as open source on GitHub and anyone can create a project running this distributed work platform, today. We are always looking for new and interesting projects to add to the whitelist of approved projects.

There are a few, very basic, needs that any project need to be approved. The project needs to be a long running project (more than a few months at least) and a few other, but that will come once you're there.

How to make a BOINC project in 10 minutes with Docker

I came across this cool video of setting up BOINC to run and distribute a workunit to a client using Docker.

This video was created by Marius Millea, who runs the Cosmology@Home project, one of the projects rewarded on the Gridcoin Network.
