Metrics on the positive feedback

(IDEA: Using Steemit To Fix To Fiverr. "Everyone In The World Has Something To Offer!")

Metrics from the growth-idea post above includes:

  • 14 comments from 14 steemians

Since the inception of #steemgigs, more than 80 percent are favorable to the idea.

Notable comments from the growth-idea post above:

1. @sauravrungta:

This  is one of the greatest ideas I have seen so far. If this can be done properly and a proper well oiled machine is set up, I think this can be really HUGE!

2. @surfermarly:

That's a HUGE idea with a lot of potential, Terry!

3. @anahilarski:

I think it`s a great idea, I see a lot of talented people on Steemit who can approach this.

Several notable steemians have considered creating steem GIGs and @buzzbeergeek, @shayne, @triverse and ofcourse me, have created our first #steemgigs.

Summary

Steemit needs a bit more fun as well as many more community-driven activities to strengthen its base users. On the outside steemit need to be bolder and upfront about its beauty, by promoting itself as a place beyond blogging and getting rewards, thus, highlighting its other precious facets.

It has to be made conspicuous, that we also have a mini-bank, an internal exchange, an amazing community of great minds, exchange & delegation of services, distribution of rewards etc.

Not everyone is a blogger but "everyone has something to offer!". Existing steemians who take breaks from blogging, still need multiple avenues, to distribute steem or SBD.

Steemit needs to make people fall in love with the web all over again!

Fiverr.com doesn't have any real competition and it needs competition. It is centralized, thus, has many flaws! steemit.com can easily fix these flaws.

People need to have a new fun place to go to, for steemit-exclusive gigs. A hub of the Internet's greatest minds, must have something to offer! Something new, something fresh, something exciting!

Both search queries "steem gigs" and "steemgigs" already hold their own space in google.com and bing.com search engines, showing that this is a very new niche.

"#SteemGIGs need to be made known!"

Problem.

  1. Not every internet user is a blogger but "everyone has something to offer".
  2. It has been said that steemit needs a new motto. "Steemit is re-shaping the very internet" or perhaps, "is the new internet" and this needs to be evident, from the very first glance.
  3. Some steemians take breaks from blogging, due to events or just to rest, flags etc
  4. There is always that need for additional ways to distribute steem and especially SBD.
  5. We haven't exhausted our resources. Our steemit community of great minds is a thing of beauty but how much of it, do we know?
  6. There is evergreen need for a steemian to flex his creative muscles
  7. We need more shareable steemit urls to enhance steemit growth.
  8. Newbies see steemit post and potential payouts but they may not have clues about the steem technology that process these payments. It easy to think that steem technology is just another centralized third party!
  9. Steemit organic growth is always welcomed.
  10. Fiverr.com needs some competition, to improve the value of gigs on the web.
  11. There is always additional need for any internet platform to be stickier
  12. The steemit community will always relish extra fun and excitement and better bonding, new relationships, new levels of trust and reputation.
  13. Steemians need more ways to explore the steem blockchain.
  14. Steemians will always welcome additional incentives for being steemian e.g getting a service at a cheaper rate, than they will get on fiverr.com or freelancer.com etc.

Solution

A community-driven effort to populate #steemgigs or #steemgig fixes all the problems above and maybe more. Just like it happened with the #til, which existed to attract people from reddit.com; let's do similarly with #steemgig

We can easily come up with 5000 extra steemit posts, each promoting the 'giving and receiving' aspect of steem technology.

Too, fresh creative steemit-exclusive gigs is a beauty on the outside and an extra reason for non-steemians to hangout on steemit.

Our intention is to implore steemians to create content on www.steemit.com/created/steemgigs or www.steemit.com/created/steemgig.

(NB: Steemians who offer Steem Gigs are likelier to share their #steemgig url all over social media and to family and friends. Newbies can also attempt to avail of a #steemgig for a start. Tasting steem transactions, does make steem stickier.)

Desired Outcome

  • That as many steemians participate in making their first set of #steemgigs. This is very simple to accomplish. Same as was done in the past with #til. "Possible target is 5,000 steem gigs."
  • To make #steemgigs a popular steemit category.
  • Create a variety of fresh steemit categories as Steem Gigs usually fall under various sub-categories e.g ads, graphics, comics, animation, SEO.

Cost

#steemgigs has already started! We already have 4 Steem Gigs and one promotional post by @virtualgrowth

However, to reach the goal of around 5,000 Steem Gig posts, we need to make #steemgigs and #steemgig popular!

#til was made popular in the past on steemit, which required curation by reputable steemians and whales, who rendered some steem power from posts in that category.

Something similar can be done for #steemgigs or #steemgig to bring it to popularity, till steemians see the beauty of it and it becomes a norm and fun.

I don't have enough influence or steem power or enough reputation to give my steemgigs promotional posts a really magnified voice, that is why i will need support from the steemit community as well as Steemit Inc, in terms of visibility for valid Steem Gigs.

Validity of Steem Gigs will probably be determined by curation as time goes on; but for a start, every steemian's first steemGIG could be celebrated.

This can take different forms, e.g:

I have consciously implored steemians to join this cause by encouraging and guiding them in comments and chat; i have also done some promotional posts to feature them. @virtualgrowth did a promotinal post as well.

Not along ago, @papa-pepper offered @triverse some SBD as a way to encourage him for creating a SteemGIG at a really affordable rate, exclusively for steemians and @sumsum did a simple mention in a comment, that led to @shayne doing his first #steemgig.

Simple acts likes these or a simple re-steem for instance are all free but are slow and takes effort.

Let's see what 5,000 additional #steemgig posts covering a variety of niches, will do for steemit's beauty!

Let's speed the process up a bit!

This can be accomplished, if popular steemians create their first set of #steemgigs.

Delegation of steem power will be very helpful as well, so that posts under the #steemgigs category, get additional visibility.

I for one, intend to propagate and interact with posts under #steemgigs during this period to encourage them, to identify what they offer and propose their gigs to steemians who may need them. I will like to do weekly posts, categorizing and featuring hot #steemgigs. I will definitely relish support on these posts, so that they are brought to visibility.

"To speed the process, we will need more of STEEM POWER!"
