**HACKER WARNING**...HACKER WARNING! PROTECT YOURSELF! NO PHISHING ZONE

SO...A superfast post just to share some info I am seeing on a few users pages...

A couple of people who frequent similar writing groups to me have referenced a new phishing scam that have some similarities that I feel compelled to share with you...As empty wallets make for unhappy STEEMIANS, right?

Basically upon logging in, there is an extra "RETURNING USERS LOGIN" box...

After logging in via the box all manner of weirdness ensues on the compromised account...TIME TO SEEK HELP.

The other version I have read about is that after adding a new friend, the aforementioned

"RETURNING USERS LOGIN" box appears...Thus starting off a similar chain of events.

After clicking the login screen you are taken to SteemIIt.com (double I), easier said than done, BUT, always try and remember to check the URL!

If you add a new contact (or indeed one adds you) who has a seriously low reputation score or a negative one, do a quick check on them to see if the reason for the score is apparent, this could obviously be an early indicator.

If you want to get an idea of what to do when this happens to try and save your account, check out this short post from a cool dude named @stevenfletcher. I only just crossed paths with him and noticed this on his feed and as it connected with a few tales from this week and featured a user whose name was becoming notorious I decided to share...

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, RIGHT?

Maybe this phishing method is not new, maybe it's as old as the hills here, but it is new to ME and I felt it should be shared even just as a warning to the new minnows joining to avoid the shark infested waters.

I guess even the decentralised areas of Webland are inhabited by the occasional scumbag.
