TIME: from Science to Movies to Psychology to Happiness - I'm Hunted by TIME

It looks like TIME is hunting me lately!

Psychology of TIME

I'm someone who lived with TIME a lot in the distant past; Always wearing a watch, even while I slept; Always living by the clock; Always very aware of the future and what I shall be doing now to make sure the future will roll out as I had in mind at present.

Fortunately I learned over TIME; Living in the present, appreciating the here and now, is much more rewarding for the - at least my - state of mind! It reduces stress; It reduces the 'I want this and that'; It reduces the disappointing feelings when something did not turn out as wanted; It makes it easier to accept; It increases total happiness a LOT!

For years I don't wear a watch anymore. I have only 1 clock in my home; In the Kitchen; One that I cannot turn off; The digital clock of my oven. Owwww, of course, I have the time on my phone and in my laptop screen, but I rarely look at it. Of course, when I have an important meeting, business or private, I'm aware of time and always try to be in time for whatever was planned. BUT, I rarely look at the time when nothing has been agreed upon.

TIME EVERYWHERE

During last couple of weeks, TIME has been approaching me from all directions.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about a movie I watched and was impressed about the music and the way the movie was shot. Of all the images I could use for the post, I selected an image with the word TIME, pure because I liked the image, not because it was about TIME. BTW, the movie "Arrivals" is a MUST SEE ONE. The MUSIC is FANTASTIC; GOOSEBUMPS! Read about it here.

TIME has EXTRAORDINARY FEATURES

In science, TIME is the fourth dimension in our - perceived - three dimensional world. It can move forward, but it cannot move backwards. We can manipulate it though. When we move with super high speed through the universe, we would perceive TIME as we would perceive it on earth. HOWEVER, while we are moving through the universe, for the people on our planet Earth, we would grow older at a much slower pace then those on Earth. Ie, we could outlive younger generations!

MOVIE: "IN TIME"

Last week @mammasitta send me a message: "Ed, you should watch this movie 'In Time'". So I did, since I liked the trailer I watched immediately.

The movie is about TIME being the currency in life, rather than money (fiat or crypto). Science made it possible to program our DNA such that any newborn would grow old - in a biological sense - until the age of 25, after which the biological clock is set to a full stop, ie no ageing anymore. At the same time - there is that word again :) - the human body is programmed to live for another year, another 365 days. Everything in live has to be payed with TIME, so when buying a cup of coffee this would be discounted from the time until death. Time is also the currency to get paid in, when eg working for a fee. A very interesting concept! That and since Justin Timberlake was featuring this movie - I do regard this guy as a pretty ok actor - I could not resist and watch the movie the same night I heard about its existence!

IMDB rates the movie at 6 point 7; BUT, I rate it a bit higher! Not that the story is so super cool - quite Hollywood like, with good and bad people, with split of society in elite and low class - but the concept of the currency TIME is really interesting; It is worthwhile to spend two hours of your time - again that word! :) - to be exposed and drawn into a story with this concept at its core!
