[Neuro-Semantics E-Course] The Process of Perception: How We Represent Reality Pt 1

Do you ever feel like your emotions have control over you? Does it ever feel like the world around you dictates how you feel? Do you experience uncomfortable feelings that consistently appear, but won't seem to go away?

If you can say yes to any of the questions above, then you're not alone. There have been many, many times in my life where I felt out of control and unable to focus, feel good, and make decisions in a truly conscious and consistent way. It wasn't until I discovered the power of Neuro-Semantics that all that changed.

In this three part series, I'm going to teach you the basic foundation of Neuro-Semantics (NS). NS is a therapeutic modality and technology created by Michael Hall Ph.D., that was designed to help individuals take control over their mind and movements. It is a process that utilizes words (semantics) in order to re-associate their meaning and integrate them back into your neurology (your body), so that you literally ACT and MOVE differently.

By the end of this course, you'll have a few tools and strategies to counter that "out of control" feeling so that you can begin to take conscious control over your mind, regardless of what is happening in the world around you.

Ready to begin?

Let's do it!

Module 1: Reppin' Your Reality

Reality is weird.

I say that because, although it all looks, feels, and sounds oh so...real... it's ultimately only as real as we make it.

We're constantly deviating between two worlds that are constantly interacting with each other:

World #1: The "outer world"

The world "out there" where people, places, and things exist.

World #2: The "inner world"

The world "within" where thoughts and feelings exist.

Both worlds are very different, but they have one very specific thing in common:

They are both utilizing information.

How so?

With our five senses, right?

We group these senses into three systems:

Visual: what you see.

Auditory: what you hear.

Kinesthetic: What you feel, taste, and smell.

Our senses take in information from the outside world, and that information is interpreted by our body and mind.

When you walk outside and a chilly gust of wind hits your skin, your body eventually starts to shake.

You are responding to kinesthetic information.

When you are driving and you suddenly hear a loud ambulance siren, you suddenly become alert.

You are responding to auditory information.

When the sunlight starts to peak out through your blinds and brighten your room, you wake up.

You are responding to visual information.

Our senses are constantly gathering information, and we are responding to it.

But that's not where it ends...

Oh no - definitely not!

Because once we input information, our mind begins to interact with it.

This is where our "inner world" begins to take shape.

As we interpret experiences "out there" in the "outer world", we are simultaneously representing them internally.

We re-present the information that comes in from "out there" in order to make sense of it.

Think about the last time you were in nature. Maybe you were hiking, camping, hanging out on a lake, relieving yourself on a tree... whatever you were doing, connect to that experience.

As you connect to that experience, what's happening?

Did you see a movie or image appear in your mind?

Did you hear any sounds or voices?

Did you notice any sensations in your body or feel any particular emotions?

Regardless of what you experienced, you can probably agree that something happened.

We all know this as a memory, but what is it actually?

It's actually a re-presentation.

We are re-presenting information to ourselves.

And this information is presented on what appears to be a movie theater within our mind's eye.

You know what I'm talking about?

It's the place where we see, hear, and feel things internally.

Believe it or not, this movie theater has a lot of power, and it takes a huge role in how we interpret and experience our reality.

Let me show you how:

Have you ever seen a movie that was so intense, exciting, and enticing that you were fully immersed within the action?

Did you notice what happened to your body?

Maybe you began to breath faster (or hold your breathe) during the intense scenes.

Or maybe you "jumped" as a loud sound effect startled you.

Whatever it was that you experienced, it's hard to deny that this movie that is not "real", caused you to have "real" experiences in your body.

The same goes for your inner movie theater.

Because our brain does not know the difference between what is existing "out there" (the outer movie theater AKA your world) and what is existing "in there" (the inner movie theater AKA your memory and imagination), our minds are constantly interpreting this information and relaying that information through our body, and it is expressed through our behavior.

So what does that mean for us?

Well, it means that we can use our inner movie theater to our advantage.

We can create our own movies, and these movies can cause our mind and body to respond in a particular way.

Lets take a moment to explore this inner movie theater a bit further:

CONCLUSION

Are you beginning to understand the power of our this inner movie theater?

As we create our own movies, these movies become real to us and literally become embedded within our neurology.

Once they're within our neurology, they are expressed as our behavior.

And our behavior is ultimately the actions that we take.

So... what was initially mere thought or feeling that appeared within your mind's eye as a picture or movie, now becomes a physical action.

Your inner world has power, and the condition of this power is what we call a state.

In our next module, we'll explore what a state is and how you can change your emotional state at any time, regardless of what's happening outside of you!

Stay tuned!

DOES THE CONCEPT OF NEURO-SEMANTICS MAKE SENSE TO YOU? IS THERE ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE YET? ARE YOU BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND HOW YOU REPRESENT YOUR REALITY VIA YOUR MIND?
