DIY Chemical Free Household Cleaner and Plant Care Spray

You won't find any cleaning products in our home that have chemicals in them. We make them all and each has their own purpose. One of our priorities is to prevent our children from breathing in harsh chemicals from commercial products.

Not only is making your own cleaning products a healthier choice for your environment, it is also cost efficient. You will end up saving a lot of money by keeping a healthy stock of your staple ingredients on hand.

Using amber glass spray bottles helps to protect the essential oils that are sensitive to degradation from light. You can use this spray as an all purpose spray for your home (countertops, tables, windows, mirrors, bathroom etc.). We use 16 oz. bottles but you can adjust the measurements according to the size bottle you have.

House Cleaner Spray:

  • 15 oz. distilled water
  • 2-3 tsp Castile soap or liquid soap of your choice
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp distilled white vinegar
  • 10-20 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 10-20 drops lemon or lemongrass essential oil
  • 10-20 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 10-20 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 cap full (about 1 1/2 tsp) Young Living Thieves household cleaner or any natural cleaner (optional boost)

Add all of the ingredients to the spray bottle. I like to add the distilled water in last for easier mixing. Give the bottle a little shake and you are ready to clean your home with chemical free goodness. 😊

We also use our own plant sprays. The essential oils helps keep the plants strong and healthy and resistant to disease. The oils also help repel insects and keep pests away. This spray can be used on indoor and outside plants as well as in your garden. We currently use this for our indoor succulent plants.

Plant Care Spray:

  • 15 oz. distilled water
  • 1-2 tsp distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tsp Castile soap or liquid soap of your choice
  • 10-15 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 5-10 drops clove essential oil (or Thieves essential oil from Young Living)
  • 10-15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10-15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10-15 drops lemongrass essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in your bottle adding the distilled water last. Spray on plants as needed.

If you do not have all of these essential oils on hand just use the ones you do have. You can play around with variations and measurements to your liking.

I hope you enjoy these chemical free recipes :)
