Relaxing into a massage has incredible benefits!!
From my experience, most people do not get massage, give massage or even really acknowledge massage as an option for health care, connection, or as a part of their everyday life. Massage generally costs (in America anyway) about $1 per minute, and is typically considered a luxury, or as specific therapy for recovery of an illness or injury. In today's world of living for money and trying to make ends meet, massage is not at the top of most people's priority list of how to spend their hard earned cash. Massage is often most enjoyed by people who have money to spare, or who have insurance to help diffuse the cost.
But massage doesn't have to be expensive,
it doesn't have to be rare,
and it doesn't have to always be left up to the professionals.
Everyday you and your loved ones
could benefit from loving touch,
and both the giver and receiver will receive great rewards.
Most everyone is aware of some of these benefits of receiving a massage:
- amplifies feelings of care, comfort and nurturing
- builds greater body awareness
- opens the body so energy can flow more fluidly
- reduces stress and anxiety
- relaxes the body
- reduces pain
- eases insomnia
- addresses digestive disorders
- relieves headaches
- eases soft tissue and sprains
- enhances exercise performance
- helps alleviate depression
- improves cardiovascular health
- temper effects of dementia
- lowers blood pressure
- increases range of motion
- counteracts the affects of sitting and repetitive motion
- relaxes the nervous system
- enhances the circulatory system
- boosts immunity
Many of the benefits enjoyed by the receiver, are also beneficial to the masseuse, as in helping others, we also help ourselves. In addition to the above list of potential benefits, here are but a few additional possibilities for someone offering up massaging services:
- enhances massage capabilities and skills
- connects you with the recipient
- builds strength and endurance
- fine tunes intuition
- increases sensitivity to the needs of others and the self
- provides greater focus
- enhances feelings of making a difference in someone's life while promoting healthy life choices
- provides opportunity for sharing of knowledge and experience
- opens space for meditative, one-on-one time
After a massage session, notice how both parties feel more energized and more relaxed, more connected to one another, and generally both in a place of gratitude for the experience.
My muscles are greatly enhanced by giving massage!
Massage doesn't always have to be technical, unless of course there is specific healing of delicate injuries or under special circumstances. But even injuries do not have to be delegated solely to a therapist, as massage in other parts of the body will enhance and improve health, so the benefits of loving touch will increase the overall state of well-being and aid in healing.
HOW TO ENHANCE YOUR OWN MASSAGE SKILLS:
Through my years and years of experience, I find the best way to feel confident in giving a massage and magnifying the effectiveness of your abilities, is to begin giving massages to yourself. Many of the spots in your body that are tense, are also tense in others. By experimenting with what feels good and relaxes you, and paying attention to where you touch your body that relieves tension, your knowledge and intuition will be increased. Not only will you feel better for having touched the parts of your body that deserve attention, you are also laying the foundation for a greater awareness for helping your loved ones. No matter how much of an expert you become, massaging the self will only serve to make you better.
You don't have to wait for a special occasion, or a luxurious moment on a table at the spa -- you can give yourself, your friends and family a treat at any time. Offer up your skills, and I believe you will find there is great appreciation for your investment in their well-being. Others will feel the love infusion, and you will both be benefitting in immeasurable ways.
And then, it just may be that they are willing to give you a massage in return. Exchange, trade, barter or give to each other freely, give each other feedback, experiment together, and enhance your lives in profound ways through this one simple, good-feeling opportunity to connect.
Just imagine enjoying a massage EVERyday!!!!
HEALING @FMATINATA AT THE @GARDENOFEDEN
@fmatinata has been at the @gardenofeden for about 17 days now, healing his broken ankle he injured climbing rocks in New Zealand almost a year ago. His body has been compensating for this injury, and though he is extremely active and agile, he has built up some tension in other areas that now also require a good release.
Frankey is not a "massage therapist", but he has a great appreciation for massage. Not only is he receiving many different healing modalities and a vast array of different massage techniques, he massages himself and others too. He is not only benefitting from getting massage, but also the gift of giving it.
