Water is vital part of our life and 2/3 part of our body and it contains calcium, magnesium and other minerals which are essential for human body. Its quality and quantity should be equal.
Due to contamination in everyday water, people have shifted to bottled water and RO(Reverse Osmosis) water, but it has increased our problems so much that WHO has issued warning about it. A research was conducted and it was found that tap water is more healthy than bottled water.

There are three main problems in RO and bottled water:

1- TDS (Total dissolved solids):

TDS means what is dissolved in water and how much dissolved. If TDS of water is low, then water is hypo tonic and if TDS is higher, then water is Hyper tonic. Drinking water should be not too hypo tonic nor too high hyper tonic.
Best Tonacity is found at 350 TDS. Its TDS should not be low than 100. Below 100, water is too much hypo tonic and it can disturb homeostasis of our body, which results in many diseases from hair fall to cardiac diseases. The reason of WHO warning is that many people are drinking bottled water having TDS below 100.

2- Minerals

When water is filtered through RO membranes, 90% minerals are filtered out of it. Same situation is in bottled water. Interesting part is that bottled water is called mineral water, infact it is de-mineraled. Due to such act, legal action was done against many companies and they started writing Packaged water instead of mineral water.

3- Plastics

When water is passed with pressure thorough RO membranes, many plastic particles are dissolved in water. The reason is that water having TDS below 100 is much aggressive and it dissolves particles quickly. This dissolved plastic is very dangerous and causes many diseases including cancer.

So following precautions must be done while using water:

a- We should stop using bottled water immediately.
b- We should check TDS of water. If it is greater than 900, then install RO plant and its output TDS should be at 350. If TDS is
below 900, then it is not sensible to install RO plant.
c- Keep water in pitcher and place the pitcher in that place where there is access of sunshine and air so that water is fully
oxygenated and sanitized. . Pitcher has amazing features. If TDS of water is higher, pitcher takes out some minerals and if
TDS is low, it adds minerals itself.

As long as quantity is concerned, our body needs 2.5 L water daily. If we take less water, it leads to many problems; most common is our body retains water which leads to weight gain and with less water intake, kidney stone is developed. So we should take 10 -12 glass of water daily. At a time 02 glasses should be drunk; means 02 glasses five times a day.
