How to Yoga - Revolved Triangle

It's a lovely Saturday, and just like every other day
I get to do exactly what I want to do;
it sure is awesome to be FREE!
What I want to do is continue building the new economy,
so I'm going to trade some of my very favorite things
including Epic Handmade Knives and iodine (I really ❤ iodine!)
at the Urban Traders Market with @gardenofeden & @everlove today.
As always, everything we raise is dedicated towards making
a better world for ALL,
so I'm excited because our success today means a stronger,
happier, healthier community.

I shall begin by sharing yoga with my beloved Steemit,
and I hope that it can serve you.

This is Revolved Triangle

AKA Parivrtta Trikonasana

(parivrtta = revolved, tri = three, kona = angle, asana = pose/posture)


Revolved triangle develops focus.


Revolved triangle relieves digestive problems,
asthma, lower backache, and sciatica.
It's fantastic for balance and concentration,  
and it increases strength and flexibility in the
hamstrings, hips, and spine.

Yoga will very quickly show you where you are at;
the body tells you its limits,
and the mind will wander to anything you allow.
It's extremely beautiful that there is no pressure
in any practice (unless you are applying it to yourself!),
and you are free to maintain your level or progress at whatever pace
feels appropriate for you, but
an ultimate goal of yoga is to connect mind and body.

Ultimately, separation is only in perception,
because every single muscle cell is attached to a nerve -
the nervous system wires the entire organism.
But since perception dictates reality,
it's common to feel as if the mind is limited to just the brain or cranium.
If that is what you perceive, alignments in asanas
are key for unlocking the connection  
between the mind and body; subtle shifts and refinements
will catapult this pose to another dimension. 

Moving the body gives the mind a place to settle.
In a challenging pose like this,
focused concentration on the bodily sensations
encourage a feedback loop -
the mind sees an area that feels difficult,
and the body makes subtle adjustments
until you find a space of grace and ease.

With this pose, an even distribution of weight is essential.
If you are off, balance is challenged.
Emotional stuff can bubble up
(which is super common when unlocking
tight areas of the body, FYI)
and the mind can calmly observe what
arises without getting caught up;
just feel the feeling and let it move on out with the breath!
Yoga is super effective (and free!) somatic psychotherapy.



How to REVOLVED TRIANGLE:

  • From standing, turn to the side and jump the feet 3-4 feet apart. 
  • Turn the left toes towards the short edge of the mat; the right foot stays parallel to the short edge of the mat (or may turn in 45 to 60 degrees). 
  • Heels stay in line.
  • Arms come out to the side at shoulder height, reaching through the fingertips.
  • Lift the chest and extend the spine; maintain this space throughout the full expression.
  • Exhale and as you twist the hips to the left and bend from there, bring the right hand to the mat, either inside or outside of the left foot.
  • Ground the back heel.
  • Left hand reaches up towards the sky while the spine stays parallel to the ground. 
  • Gaze can be at the ground or fingertips.
  • You can use a block under the right hand. 

Breathe in, breathe out. 

Breathe in, breathe out. 

Breathe in, breathe out.
