Travel Pro Health #8: Wheatgrass, a New Year's Resolution!

Happy New Year My Steemit Friends!

Welcome to 2018, and boy do I have a new year's resolution for you! Well, that's if you want to treat your body to some incredibly healthy and detoxifying wheatgrass every morning. Doing so will probably add years onto your life and prevent you from getting cancer. Not bad for a New Year's Resolution! But can you do it? Do you want to? Can you commit? Isn't that what new year's resolutions are all about? They are often easier said than done!

If I had my own house and didn't live out of a backpack constantly traveling around the world this would definitely by my 2018 resolution. I didn't pull this idea out of hat either; recently I was visiting Uncle Kenny in Hollywood Florida for a few days before I flew out to Ecuador. Uncle Kenny has always been into health and fitness, and he's really proud of his latest routine.

Not too long ago he started growing his own fresh wheatgrass! I'll tell you, it grows like grass! Fast! About an inch a day! Once it gets to about 8 inches he gives it a trim and puts it in the fridge where it stays good for about a week. Uncle Kenny now has a never ending supply of this stuff for basically free, and you could too!

If you buy wheat grass shots at a juice bar or powdered wheat grass at a health food store it's not cheap. Growing it yourself is a great way to get fresh wheatgrass and treat your body to some super nutrients for practically no cost at all.

The biggest expense by far would be the juicer. But if you already have one of those then all you need to do is order the seeds online and you're good to go. Just soak them in water overnight then spread them over some soil in a tray like my uncle has and nature will do the rest. Just keep it watered like your lawn. This time of year in the colder climate keeping it near a window should be good enough, or grow lights would be better.

Health Benefits of Wheat Grass

Oddly enough, it's wheat! But not the grain it's the grass! So it doesn't contain gluten or allergens and you certainly can't bake bread with it. In fact it's loaded vitamin A, B, C, and E as well as a series of amino acids and it's 70 percent chlorophyll! In the health food community it's well know as a blood detoxifier, having the ability to increase your red blood cell count boosting your immune system in the most direct way.

It's detoxifying powers are so strong that it's known to remove heavy metals and cancer causing agents from the body. My uncle warned me against drinking too much of it; explaining that it detoxifies your system so well it will essentially draw out so many toxins from your body that it could be hazardous to your health. To have all that toxic gunk being processed out of your system all at once is something you wouldn't want to do. So I'm assuming it's best to just have a shot in the morning or several shots spread out through out the day.

For those suffering with thyroid issues wheatgrass is exactly what you want to start taking. It's been know to get this small gland working it tip top condition. Improving the function of your thyroid directly helps you lose weight. Often those who are overweight with thyroid issues will have an imbalance with their cholesterol. This incredible super food will improve your good cholesterol while lowering your bad cholesterol too!

Wheatgrass is loaded with glutathione. This is one of the strongest antioxidants known and it's concentrated in the liver, making this grass one of the best liver detoxifiers that exist. Taking wheatgrass for your New Year's Resolution will certainly have your liver thanking you after the abuse it may have taken New Year's Eve!

Wheat grass has a natural ability to oxygenate your blood. Taking a shot of this stuff will give you a direct burst of energy. Many athletes take wheat grass before working out helping them stay in tip-top shape and improving their overall performance!

I've had the powdered wheatgrass that you mix with juice and gulp it down. It's not only expensive, it's disgusting! Freshly juiced wheat grass is ten times better. It doesn't even taste bad. It's actually a little bit sweet. Besides that it's much better for you like most things that are alive and fresh when consumed. So take a moment and seriously consider making wheatgrass your 2018 New Year's Resolution. Your Body will certainly thank you! Until next time- Dan "World Travel Pro!"
