I was standing outside the house surveying the mammoth task work to be done on that section of the garden, I suddenly turned to the wall and noticed it - can you spot it ?
It was literally 'writing on the wall':
We have lived here for over 15 years, but I had never seen this before. It all made sense though, alas, there was no mystery to unravel.
This house was brought back from ruin by its previous owners during the 80s. One of the main workers, Michael Williams, RIP, was proud of his work on the lane. He obviously also worked repairing and repointing the stone walls and left a reminder for future generations.
I know there's another date inscription on the outside of the house which is much, much older but it's currently covered in ivy.
Now the mystery for you : was this a clear case of serendipity (ie when you suddenly see something obvious) or was it a ghostly encounter ? 😧
