Hi everyone!
Today is a big day for Czech and Slovakian people as it was exactly 100 years ago, on October 28, 1918, when independent Czechoslovakia was founded. As you probably know, Czechoslovakia split (peacefully) into two countries - the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic later on in 1993 - but both nations are still very close to each other and most of us Czechs still consider the Slovaks our brothers so it is not surprising that we are celebrating this remarkable anniversary together today.

There are countless events organized all over the countries but the most important ones are held in Prague where the Czech and Slovakian Presidents met to commemorate the foundation of what used to be our common country.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Prague is also hosting the largest military parade in its modern history, numerous expositions, concerts, video projections, artistic performances, fireworks etc. The National Museum reopened to public today after several years of reconstruction, which is another long-awaited event that was scheduled for the anniversary.

As you can see, today truly is a very important day for us so let me just finish this post by saying: "Happy Birthday, my beloved homeland!"
