Hello everyone, I'm @newtonb and I'm so delighted to be writing in this community. I find this community of great interest. A big Thank you to @dove11 for making it possible for me to be here to share my first stage experience with you all.

It has always been my dream to speak in public especially as a singer or a musician. I always admired stars while growing up as they use the stage. All the drama, stage performance, charisma and power has always been what I craved for .

This craving went on and on untill I finally decided to stop. I tried severally but all my efforts were futile. I later discovered that path had been carved out for me already that's why the passion was so strong. So I decided to embrace it and started out my journey as a public speaker.

It was in my highschool days way back in 2013 when I decided to run for the school prefectship post (Students leadership union). I knew this was where I would gain more exposure and overcome my fears. Though I want to be like all the great people and public speakers I used to see on television, I still found it very difficult to be bold enough to face the crowd.

My first stage appearance happened one school morning when all the nominated candidates for the school students leadership were supposed to do a campaign in front of the school assembly. That was when I knew that there is more to what we see than how it looks.

I had never had any of such experience before but I was very courageous enough to take the stage and started out with my presentation. At first I began sweating profusely even though it was very cold that morning. Every one could tell I was nervous and tensed. Well, regardless I still managed to score my presentation though in an uncomfortable state.

My biggest challenge was not only the large crowd of students and teachers but the fear of making a mistake. Knowing that my peers were looking at me, It gave me more reasons to worry about my performance.

Nevertheless, after my speech, I was shocked to see the reactions I received from my friends saying that I did well. Maybe they were just trying to make me feel better though but I knew that was the beginning of my journey to becoming a great speaker today.

On that note, I invite my friends @wintia23 @bongk and @wirngo to also share their first stage appearance

Thank you for reading.
